From January 22 to 25, Fang Zhi, Deputy Secretary General of China Environmental Protection Foundation (CEPF), led a program team to visit two proposed sports fields of “Recycle-A-Shoe” Public Welfare Project. The program team evaluated the construction condition in 17th Primary School in Yining City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and Zilai Nine-Year School in Longxi County, Gansu Province and exchanged the substantial demands of their schools' sports facilities. Upon the venue evaluation, there are also discussions with local education authorities and school management to ensure that the potential construction of the sports fields are consistent with overall planning as well as comply with the relevant national infrastructure construction standards and processes.

The “Recycle-A-Shoe” Public Welfare Program, initiated in 2023 by Nike Sports (China) Co., Ltd. and the China Environmental Protection Foundation. Since the launch of the grogram, the program team have visited several applied venues in schoolin Hubei, Hunan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Gansu, Shanghai, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and other provinces. At present, the “Recycle-A-Shoe” Public Welfare Program has completed the pre-project research of all proposed venues in the first half of 2024.

In order to in line with China's "Carbon Dioxide Peaking and Carbon Neutrality" strategy, and promote the transformation of a green, low-carbon lifestyle in society as a whole, the China Environmental Protection Foundation and Nike have reached a long-term cooperation in 2023 to support the implementation of the “Recycle-A-Shoe” Public Welfare Program. The program will continue to carry out ecological and environmental protection activities by supporting the construction of approximately 10 sports fields with recycled material each year, alongside with carrying out environmental campaigns among in schools, and further promoting green consumption to the public. Nike plans to build 100 Nike Grind sports fields in Greater China before 2030. Up to now, the “Recycle-A-Shoe” program has built 32 Nike Grind sports fields across China.
